I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It was fascinating to learn more about Mindy Kaling‘s life and her career. The Office is one of my brother and I’s favorite shows and Kelly Kapoor is one of my favorite characters. So to dive into Mindy’s world and learn about all she went through before she hit it big with The Office was really enjoyable.
I will say that the way Mindy decided to write this book took some getting used to because this read more like a blog posts or even like a stream of consciousness. It’s like Mindy just wrote something down and then decided, “Yeah that should go in my book”. Now, that’s not a negative for the book it was just an interesting choice for her to tell her story this way, it just took me some getting used to. There were some sections that I found more interesting than others and thankfully the ones I wasn’t that interested in were short.
What I love about the way Mindy writes is that even when you’re reading the book you can so clearly hear Mindy’s recognizable voice in your head. That’s how it felt to me anyway. I just kept hearing her voice in my head as I read her words.
Overall, this is a great look into Mindy’s life and I did enjoy it a lot. I’d give Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling, 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you are a fan of Mindy’s or The Office I’d highly recommend checking this out.
