Movie Review: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

On Friday, I went to see Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I wanted to see this movie both because the trailers looked interesting and I’d heard nothing, but good things about the book. After seeing the movie, I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it. The way they were able to combine zombies with the original story was really good and interesting.
Now, this wasn’t a perfect movie, obviously, but it was still enjoyable. Matt Smith being cast as Mr. Collins was perfect and hilarious, but I do have to admit that there were some parts where I felt like I was watching the Eleventh Doctor instead of Mr. Collins. I’m not sure about the casting of Mr. Darcy. I mean the actor did a great job, it was just in some scenes I didn’t find him 100% believable as Darcy. I loved Lily James as Lizzy. I think she was perfect, along with the rest of the Bennet family. In a couple scenes, Lena Headey’s performance of Lady Catherine reminded me of Cersai, but that still didn’t take away from her performance.
Overall, the film was enjoyable, but I do think it is catered more to people that have read the book it’s based off of, or the original Jane Austen classic. I don’t think if you don’t know the original plot, you’ll enjoy this all that much.
I’d give the movie 4.5outof5Stars.
